How to add a post to the blog

NOTE: Only attempt to Post through Internet Explorer. Other browsers such as Mozilla Firefox may not work.

These instructions describe the steps to create a Post. To add a comment to an existing Post, see the "How to comment" instructions.

Before you can initiate your very first Post on any Google based blog, there are two steps that must be completed. You only have to do them this one time.
1.) If you don't already have one, you must set up a Google Account. It's free!

• Go to Google.com and click on "Sign In". Then, click on "Set up an account now".
  
• On the next screen displayed, enter your existing email address and create a password. NOTE: It does NOT have to be a Google gmail account. Just indicate your existing email address.
  
• Then follow the rest of the instructions there to create the Google account. If you check the box "remember me on this computer", you will automatically be logged in to your Google account when you access Google via the same computer in the future.

2.) The MYC Discussion Blog administrator must set you up as an "author" for this blog. Email the administrator asking to be set up, and specify the email address that you listed when you set up your Google Account. Shortly after the administrator has set you up, you will receive an email "invitation" to author posts to the blog. Now you are ready to create Posts!
After the initial steps are complete, you can add a Post at any time. Navigate to the MYC blog and click "New Post" on the the top right of your screen. You will be presented with another screen where you can enter a title for your post, the body of your post, and at the bottom enter the proper Labels for your post so that others can find it. Please select your Label(s) from the list of existing Labels that can be displayed by clicking on "Show all" at the bottom right of the screen. If no existing Label applies, enter a new topic to start a new discussion "thread".
At the top of the "Compose" tab, you can utilize various options to change your font, italicize or bold text, number or bullet your points, add a link, image, or video, etc. You should remain in the "Compose" tab of this window unless you know HTML and want to add or change the code there.
To preview your post before publishing it, click on Preview. Then, to resume updates to your post, click on Hide Preview. Once you are finished with your Post, hit the "Publish Post" button at the bottom left. (Don't forget to select one or more Labels before you do!)
If you want to change something in your Post after it has been published, click on the small pencil icon that appears to the lower right of the post and you will be returned to "Edit Posts" to make your amendments.
